Not again!

Ok, another night of breaking my curfew! I was planning on settling in early but then I remembered I still needed to submit my B&W LO yet! So, while I was doing that of course I had to search the galleries and before I knew it, it's 12:38am already! Darn.

For those of you paper and hybrid scrapbookers out there,
here is a blog that has some AWESOME ideas for your cricut (if you have one). That machine rocks, and Regina Easter has put together some cute cards, bags, boxes and wall art beautifully!

I even had to get my George cartridge out (the free one that came with the cutter) because I couldn't believe this flower(card made by Debbie Fisher) came from that cartridge!

The tags and flowers from this card were made from that cartridge (and frankly I don't care for the George font and rarely use it) and I had to get it out to see for myself that those cute adorable flowers were on there, and sure enough they were! Now my next (paper or hybrid) LO is definitely going to have those on there!

Here are a couple items that Regina has made (she noted that she used the new expressions for these - that one rocks too!)

Check out Regina's blog for even more ideas and CUTE stuff!!

Ok, that's enough for tonight!

Good night -

Black and White Challenge

Here is a LO I just finished this evening for a challenge at it's all about me. If my LO is picked I get $20 worth of free product! Doubt I'll win but I have to try cuz it's $20 worth of FREE product and you can't beat that! Anyway - in this challenge you have to use the b&w alpha she has at her store and then the rest of the LO has to be 90% black and white. I hope I didn't go over the 90%!

The picture I used is a picture I scanned of my mom and dad. I've always thought it was a cool picture and the best part is that my mom put it through the typewriter and wrote on the top of it "Darryl and I trying for a comeback". I'm really not sure what the heck that means! I'll have to ask mom about that one. When I scanned it I made sure to keep that bit of journaling on there and also the rip on the right hand corner is real - not photoshoped :-)!

Well, I think I am going to call it a night because it's past my new 11pm curfew I set for myself. I need to start going to bed earlier. It's easy to do that tonight cuz the hubby took our daughter to the swimming pool tonight after supper so I did get to sneak on the computer a little earlier then normal so that means I get to quit earlier!

See Tony - I can get to bed at a decent time once in a while! (just checking to see if you'll read this and see your name and wonder if it's you I'm talking about or someone else.) hee hee!

Okay, here is tonights LO and cross your fingers so I win some free product!

Credits are here!

oh, and I hope there are a few of you out there working on that "copy cat" challenge!!

Now I'm off to la la land.

The new COPY CAT challenge - keeping it simple

Okay, I’ve decided to start a new challenge. Well, there are tons of them on the internet, but I’m going to try another one! Since I’ve really been getting into digital scrapbooking these days, not only because it’s faster, easier for me, cheaper, takes up less space in my house but because I feel I can design better on the computer then I can using paper. But at the same time, I have tons of paper scrapbooking supplies that I just can’t let go. I still love the papers and embellishments too much that I still want to create with them. I just find it hard to come up with my own ideas with paper. Probably because I am so overwhelmed with all the supplies I have, that I just don’t know where to start. After looking thru magazines and blogs, I’ve been finding that I like the simple, clean layouts in paper scrapbooking (but I LOVE the bold, full of embellies, stitching, you name it on digital ones). That is why I have decided to do a challenge called “Copy Cat Challenge – Keeping it simple”. This way I will be able to copy those fabulous designs out there and maybe some day use up all my paper stash with sleek, clean designs scrap-lifted from others!

So, here we go…Copy Cat Challenge #1. This first copy cat is from Keisha Campbell. She is awesome and I love her style! Here is the LO that I have chosen to be the first "copy cat"!

and here is my "copy cat" version:

As you can see - I pretty much copied the entire LO! I made a 6x6 page so I had to cut the cute little journaling bubbles down to 3 instead of 4. Plus I didn't have a stamp to do the polka dots so I just left it out. My version is not as nice as Keisha's original - but it's another LO completed for me! Yippee! So, please feel free to change it up, completely copy it, use paper or go completely digital - it's all up to you!!!

Please, if you do try this challenge – email me the link or jpeg to: scrapingal89@hotmail.com and I will post it on my blog along with my version and everyone else that plays along too! I am going to try to do this at least once a month…maybe more. So keep checking for added updates.

I think that's it for tonight.
Hoping to see some new copy cat's in my inbox!!!

Good night,

The BIG one - that DIDN'T get away!

As promised, here is a new LO. This one is of my nephew Dillon that caught a huge walleye out on the lake with my husband and my brother. He was pretty excited about it. I think the older guys were a little jealous :-)! Credits are here. I rented 3 movies tonight so I better start watching them so I can return them on time!
***********
Don't forget to check back tomorrow for the new challenge I am starting. I sure hope a few of you out there will join!

Thanks, and have a good evening!

It's Friday!

Yipee! Today is Friday and I was actually able to complete a LO. This one was made the old fashioned way - it was made with paper. I am trying to use up my paper supplies and one day completely go all digital but with all the paper supplies I have accumulated over the years, I need to actually use it up first! Here is a quick little LO I did with my daughters 3 year pictures. It's pretty plain but hey, it's done!

Check back tomorrow and I should have another LO completed and on Sunday I will be posting a challenge for everyone to participate in! I'll have all the details for you on Sunday so hopefully we will see you then!

Sluff off day!

Today is a sluff off day! I left work after 2 hours to come home and watch my DD while my DH went fishing. We went up town and did a little shopping then we went to the hardware store and bought a cheap sprinkler for her to run through since we are not ready to take out the new slipNslide her sister bought her for her Kindergarten graduation. I took a few pictures of her having some fun and planned on getting the LO done today but that just didn't happen but here is a layout that I did get done. It is of my DD and the cute name she called the "liquor store"! The writing in the layout says: You and your dad went up town and when you got back you said “Hey mom, Daddy took me to the ”licorice store” (meaning the liquor store). Then you said, “But they didn’t have any licorice!”. “But daddy did buy me a pop, in this bottle that looks like a beer!”-you are too cute! I thought it was so cute that she thought it was called the licorice store and that they sold licorice there! You can find the credits here

Oh, one more thing. Since Nickelodeon is THE channel at our house because DD has to watch it, I find myself still watching it into the middle of the night. One reason is I have always been a big fan of Roseanne and The Fresh Prince of Bela ire. I am actually watching an episode of Fresh Prince right now and it's an episode with the "new" Vivianne. I have to tell you that I never did like the new one. The old "original" Vivianne was way better - she was funny like the rest of the cast unlike the "new" one. She's a stick in the mud!!! Anyway, the re-runs are still fun to watch. The show ALWAYS cracks me up and I catch myself LOL when no one is in the room with me!

I think that's it for tonight - I promised myself I would be in bed by midnight tonight!

Till next time,
~Dz

July Mosh Posh - So CUTE!

Here is the new Mosh Posh kit for July! Its so cute and full of doodlebug stuff - which I love! I can't wait for it to arrive. Not a lot going on this weekend. I was on the computer for most of it be it seems I didn't accomplish anything. We did rent some movies this weekend. Two for DH and I and one for DD to watch. Well, we only watched 2 out of the 3. Strawberry Shortcake was watched by DD while DH and I watched Dejavu. I thought it was OK...not sure about the ending! The other movie was Breech and I got through the first 10 minutes and then I fell asleep! It didn't interest me enough to finish watching it this morning.

See you next time!

DD Quote Challenge using Chris's new papers!

WoW! These new papers of Chris's are awesome. I love the colors and the textures! I used the grunge paper as the background and the brown graph paper for some of the circles. Katie Pertiet designed this really cute and fun to work with quote and 12x12 template. If you want to join the challenge just click here to get the freebies and enter! The pictures I used are of my DD and our dog Rikki in the Fall of 2005.

Credits:
Background paper, graph paper, flower, girl tags, cardboard, button, paint swoosh and staples all Chris Turnbull and you can get those
here.
Stitching - weeds and wildflowers and font=journaling hand

Well, that's it for me tonight (that is if it doesn't start storming again) because if it does, I'll be up all night!

a NEW look!!

Well, what do you think? I don't have a new layout to post yet (but there is still Sunday left) but I did get a chance to finally design my own header. I also made a blinkie too -so please, grab it if you are a fan :-)! Of course, all the papers and elements I used were from Chris Turnbull's AWESOME designs! I used the "It's not all pink" kit for both the banner and the blinkie with the one item (paint swoosh) from her "Blackberry Lush" kit. Both these kit's can be found here. Let me know what you think of the new design, or what you think needs to be added/subtracted from this blog - I am looking for some suggestions!

Well, I really need to get a new LO done, so I better go and get started.
See you all tomorrow!

Chris's New stuff!!

I would like to introduce Chris Turnbull's 2 new paper packs and new flower packs. I love the graph paper design, the grunge papers (especially the colors) and the flowers are awesome! They all can be found here. Also, other members of Chris Turnbull's creative team have already designed some really cute LO's with these new papers (yes, I am the slow one) and you can check them out here.

Tuesday's Tidbits

I’ve been thinking about posting some scrapbooking tidbits. You know, things that help our fellow scrapbookers decide if they need this tool or that tool or just questions we have about scrapbooking that another fellow scrapbooker answered for us so kindly. So, here’s round one of “Tuesday's Tid-bits”.

Tools you can live without (Here are 3 that I can think of off the top of my head)

  • The Tag Maker by Making Memories Yep, I did it. I went out and bought it as soon as I saw the previews for it. Well, it isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. I thought this tool would cut your tag then frame it with the metal tag. Nope. It comes with a stencil like plastic frame template that you trace your picture or paper with then you cut it out by hand. You then insert your picture/paper into the metal frame then use the tool to bend the metal frame to your paper. Which, you can do using your fingers because the metal is very thin. Actually, it works better without the tool! So, if you were ever thinking about buying this tool – I would advise you not to and instead just buy the metal frames because each metal frame kit you buy – comes with the plastic template that you need. UPDATE – they are now selling a Tag Maker punch kit that will punch out the shapes perfectly for the Tag Maker rims. BUT – I would still advise to just buy the Tag Maker Rims and not the tools that go with it.
  • The Fastenater by EK SuccessOk, I learned my lesson on the tag-maker so when this new tool came out, I let my friend Maureen spend her money on it and I would then find out if it was worth it or not. Well, she showed it to me and we thought it was “ok” until I realized that I could poke the staples (that came with the stapler) thru the paper just like a concho and then bend the pokie’s down with your hammer (or whatever you want to use or normally use for concho’s)! So, I saved a few bucks by leaving the tool in the store and walking out with the cool staples! Not to mention that you can put them anywhere on the page without limitations – whereas using them in the stapler you are limited as to how far it reaches on your page.
  • The Ribbon Iron by PebblesYes, this is a VERY cute tool, but odds are you have a curling iron – preferably a flat iron, but if not the “curling” ones work just as good to flatten out your ribbon too.

So there you have it – today’s tools you can live without!

One more thing...

Oh, before I go - you must check out the kits I got from the Sweet Shoppe all for $10! They are having a sale and if you buy $10 or more, you get the "some kind of wonderful" kit for free! VERY GOOD DEAL. Here's a few of the specials I got along with the "freebie kit".

Wow! AGAIN!

I can't believe it - on the same day I submitted my entry for 2 creative teams, thinking that maybe, just maybe I might get selected for one, and guess what? Both lovely ladies chose me to be a part of their teams! I just really can't believe it. I am so honored to be a part of their teams and I will try my best to make them both proud of their designs. Thank you Jonash of Jonasch Designs for also giving me the chance to be a part of your team. and again, Chris, Thank you too!!! Wow, I just might get an album filled by the end of this journey. Yippee!

I'm off to bed, I told myself at midnight the computers are going to be shut down...well, it's already 12:30 so I'm signing off. Good night.

Father's Day

Ode to Dad day! I think I'm a little bit over due on the Father's day submission, but better late then never. The pictures I used were of my dad in his younger years. I thought he looked so handsome in these pictures. I often tease him that he looked like Elvis in his young days! Well, I better get to bed, 6am comes early for me. Before I go, here are the credits...

Creative Team Layout #2!

This is a couple of pictures of me and my hubby (of 10, going on 11 years) at his daughter's wedding dance. I think this is the first page I have done with just the two of us! I wanted black and red because to me those colors together are sort of "romantic" and I was trying to set the mood :-)! I tried to use the pickleberrypop scraplift challenge layout (from April) as an example but kind of made it my own at the same time.
Here are the credits:
Stick Mint Swirl kit (background paper, flowers, heart, button, beads and rickrack), It's not all pink kit (flourish), cardboard pieces, Freebie4U2 (brads) and Romantic labels - All Chris Turnbull's awesome designs which are all available at http://www.pickleberrypop.com/

Stitching was a freebie from Natali at:www.scrapwithnatali.blogspot.com

First Creative Team Layout

Wow! I just finished my first layout for Chris Turnbull's Creative Team. I used a picture of the girls I took after Maria's Kindergarten graduation. They all look so lovely I just had to scrap it! I wish I would have posed them a little more fun like rather than so "family portraitishy"!! Oh well, there are plenty more chances for me to get that perfect picture of the 3 of them together. I better run, I have to upload the layout to my galleries and start on the next!

Rhonna's Pink Challenge

Well, I finally completed a layout for this weeks challenge. I will add the credits to the digital elements tomorrow as it's just too late for me to track down where the elements I used came from! I should have a few minutes to do that tomorrow night. I can tell you that most of the elements I did use were freebies so I'll be sure to let you know where I found them. Even the cool white border overlay! Hope you check back in tomorrow and I'm sure it will probably be a late post again :0)

My Cowgirl

Good afternoon everyone! It's been a few days (again) since I've done any layouts - so today I decided it was about time! I found this really cool template from Shandy Vogt's website. I chose these pictures of my DD for the LO. She really like's cowboy hats, she has about 5 different ones in about 3 different colors and 2 natural colors. Every where we go and she sees a new cowboy hat - she has to have it! Good thing I don't let her get every one she wants or we would have a houseful of cowgirl hats! Anyway - you should check out Shany's site, she has some cool freebies including this neat template that I used.

Hopefully, I will get one more posting today for Rhonna's new challenge "pink" - one of my favorite colors!

See ya Later
